VE Day Beacon Lighting
Stratton Memorial Garden
8 May 25 - 20:25 to 21:30
Princes Risborough Town Council is proud to host a Beacon Lighting Ceremony in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, 8th May, at the Stratton Memorial Garden.
This event is part of a coordinated effort across the UK to remember and reflect on the end of World War II in Europe. Risborough residents, families, and friends are warmly invited to gather at the Stratton Memorial Garden, Long Hide (HP27 0JX) from 8:25 PM, with the formal proceedings beginning at 8:45 PM.
The evening will feature a series of readings, culminating in the lighting of the Beacon at 9:30 PM in the Stratton Memorial Garden.
As part of the event, there will be a 10-minute segment for public participation. If you’d like to join us on stage to share a memory or reflection, please contact Stephanie at stephanie@princesrisboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk
to express your interest.
This event will be held outdoors — we encourage everyone to dress for the weather forecasted and plan ahead.
Please note there are no toilet facilities on site and there is limited parking at the Stratton Memorial Garden.
If you're travelling by car, please note that there are two public car parks—The Mount and Horns Lane—located roughly the same walking distance from Stratton Memorial Garden. Both offer free parking after 7:00 PM.
