News from the Princes Centre
Published: 03 June 2025
The big news this month is that our chairman, Matt Walsh, has rejoined the Town Council and has been voted Mayor of the town. We are thrilled for him and know that he will work as hard for the town as he has for the Princes Centre. Congratulations Matt.
With the warmer weather, there have been more outside activities at the Princes Centre.
Some clients have been out to choose plants for the garden and have enjoyed getting the flower beds ready to plant them. Others have been out to purchase cooking ingredients to make scrumptious meals, and others have been to the local parks to try out the exercise equipment. There have been outdoor games in the garden or sitting outside to do craft work. The bowling group is back in swing and there has been a trip to Marlow for a walk along the river.
Indoors our clients have enjoyed an assortment of activities. Some have chosen to do art work or pottery. Other activities include sewing, music, modelling with clay, fun with bean bag games as well as all the normal games. The recent celebrations involving VE day were also enjoyed at the Centre with decorations, singing relevant songs and a special visit from the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire.
Staff have endeavoured to help clients with special needs by purchasing some talking scales to enable a blind client to enjoy getting involved in the baking sessions. The provision of some nuts and bolts made a wonderful fine motor skills activity for another client. A number of dementia radios have been purchased. These can be personalised for individual clients with 10 of their favourite songs which can be played when anxious or confused. These radios can be re-programmed time and time again to suit different people.
The large tree at the front of the property has been pruned and a number of smaller jobs undertaken inside the buildings, mainly remedial work. The staff and trustees continue to try and make everything perfect for our clients and are currently considering changes to improve the transport arrangements for them.
If you would like to consider having a relative or yourself attending the Centre, a free taster of what we have to offer can be arranged. Please contact Mags on 01844 345105
