D-Day Order of Service Announced

Published: 30 May 2024

We invite residents and friends of Princes Risborough to join us in the Stratton Memorial Garden, Long Hide, HP27 0JX from 8:15PM on the evening of Thursday, 6th June 2024.

We will be lighting a Beacon to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. This Beacon is part of a nationwide tribute to remember the largest Naval, Air, and land operation in history.

As detailed in our Order of Service, the event will commence at 8:35PM with opening remarks from the Town Mayor. This will be followed by a recitation of a poem read by a student from Princes Risborough School. Reverend David Williams from St Marys Church Princes Risborough will then lead us in prayer. Following this, an international tribute will be read by Warrant Officer Stephen Mills of the Royal Air Forces. The evening will conclude with the lighting of the beacon which is scheduled for 9:15PM.

We hope you can join us in honouring and remembering the bravery and sacrifice made on D-Day.
