Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day

Princes Risborough Town Council has announced plans to light a Beacon for the 80th anniversary of D-Day on the evening of Thursday, June 6th, 2024.

 

The Beacon is one of many being lit across the Nation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. D-Day on 6 June 1944 was the largest Naval, Air, and land operation in history.

 

Residents and friends of Princes Risborough are invited to join Princes Risborough Town Council in the Stratton Memorial Garden, Long Hide, HP27 0JX from 8:15PM on the evening of Thursday, June 6th, 2024. 

 

The event will commence at 8:35PM with opening remarks from the Town Mayor. This will be followed by a recitation of a poem read by a student from Princes Risborough School. Reverend David Williams from St Marys Church Princes Risborough will then lead us in prayer. Following this, an international tribute will be read by Warrant Officer Stephen Mills of the Royal Air Forces. The evening will conclude with the lighting of the beacon which is scheduled for 9:15PM.
