KGV Arson Incident

Published: 21 September 2022

We are deeply disappointed to report that another act of arson has been committed in King George V Park this week. The incident happened during the evening/early hours of the 17th and 18th of September 2022.

The individual(s) destroyed some of the park's fencing to fuel a fire made in an item of play equipment. The fire service were called out early Sunday morning to extinguish the still smouldering embers - an unnecessary burden on our emergency services. Images depict the damage caused by the incident.

The area has since been taped off and we are waiting on a report on the future use of this popular piece of equipment. The replacement value is estimated to cost ~£10,000.

Sadly, this is not the first act of vandalism or arson to happen in this park. Both incidents have cost both time and money to rectify.

We urge those who have information about the individual(s) who committed this crime to please come forward and help us to identify the culprit(s). If you witnessed the individual(s) or incident, please do report this information.

If you are able to help us or Thames Valley Police in any way please contact either the Town Council Office on towncouncil@princesrisboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk or contact 101 quoting Crime Reference Number 43220423487.

Please remember these vandals are costing you, the taxpayer, a lot of money that could be better utilised on more proactive projects.
