The Risborough Basket
Published: 30 June 2020
Firstly, we would like to thank you for supporting our Fruit
and Vegetable service proudly delivered by the Risborough Basket.
When we launched on the 30th March, we had no
idea how popular the Risborough Basket would be and how it would all work. Starting with two small mobile phones and
armed with pens and paper the phones rang continuously from 10am till 2pm every
day. As we grew, we streamlined the service with new IT and logistics and at
the peak of the Fruit and Veg Scheme, we were processing over 100 orders a day.
We could not have served you, our residents if it were not
for a huge group of volunteers that have supported our scheme these past twelve
weeks. Answering phones, handling logistics and dispatch, collecting High St
orders, picking our produce, and our team of delivery drivers safely delivering
goods to your homes. We could not have
done this without them, so on behalf of everyone at Princes Risborough Town
Council, we thank them all.
As life returns to a new form of normal, we have seen a very
substantial fall in orders for fruit and vegetables and many of our volunteers
are returning to work. So, Friday 3rd
July will be the last day for orders for fruit and vegetables from the
Risborough Basket.
We are pleased to confirm that our Fruit and Veg Supplier,
Colin has returned to his usual position under the Market House every
Saturday. Also, if we to experience a second spike or localised lockdown, let
me assure you we will work with Colin to bring Fruit and Veg back to the
Risborough Basket.
Finally, all other shops and services from
risboroughbasket.co.uk will continue to be delivered free to your homes and we
have big plans for the future of Risborough Basket that we look forward to
sharing with you very soon.
Once again thank you for your support it is deeply appreciated.
