This painting reminds Saskia of a past holiday in Italy. The grey stairs convey hope and new beginnings emerged in the grey shadows everyone had to suffer in during the covid lockdown,

Saskia wanted viewers to feel nostalgia when looking at the piece, yet also to symbolise new memories being made.  The past memories linger and will be renewed when someone returns to the country they were made in.
