This painting shows the lovely intensity of spring. An evening’s low sunlight on new flowers cast shadows against a fence, which holds us in a closed composition. A specific point in time and snapshot in a wider landscape, this painting celebrates nature’s endless fragile possibility. Merg moved recently to Princes Risborough and looks forward to painting his new garden and the surrounding countryside.
