Molten beeswax

Encaustic painting involves heating beeswax to which pigments are added, creating instant images being worked into artistic designs.  The media can be applied to wood, card, or canvas.  Metal tools and special brushes are used to shape the paint before it cools and heated metal tools also manipulate the wax once it has cooled.
