The challenges and constant changes that are
resulting from COVID-19 are also having an effect on the work of Princes
Risborough Town Council. We are keen to continue as many of
our essential services for residents as possible, but following the recent
Government announcements are making some necessary changes to protect the
health and well-being of our staff:
The Council offices in Clifford Road are
now closed to the public. Council officers are mainly working from home, but
can be contacted by email email@example.com
or on the telephone between 9.30am and 3.30pm
The maintenance team are continuing to
care for the town, undertake everyday duties and ensure that our parks and
facilities are well cared for and maintained, whilst exercising appropriate
social-distancing and safe working practices.
Regretfully the Thursday weekly market and
the Saturday fruit & veg stall has had to be cancelled at the current
time. We appreciate the ongoing support of stallholders and residents, but the
current guidance makes operating the market too challenging if we are to
preserve the health and wellbeing of stallholders, council staff, and customers.
The Council is continuing to support the newly
established Princes Risborough & Surrounding Areas, Elderly and
Vulnerable Support group, set up to provide care and assistance to those in
our community needing support at this time. A leaflet has been distributed to
every house in the Town with the recent Crosstalk magazine. If you require
support, please call 07958 400768 or the Council offices.
Council meetings and committee meetings
have been suspended, in light of the instructions to stay at home. The
government is considering the use of virtual meeting technology, but at this
time it has not been approved for use.
As a result of the current
situation and the uncertainty surrounding it, the Town Council has regrettably taken
the decision to postpone the popular Risborough Festival week at the
beginning of July. We appreciate that this will be very disappointing news to
many residents and community groups but given the scale of the event and the
advance planning required, we want to ensure that essential funds are not put
at risk unnecessarily. It is hoped that a new date will be confirmed soon, and
likely to be early September. In
addition we have taken the decision to also cancel the planned VE Day
Celebrations on Friday 8th May.
Again a new date will be confirmed once we are able to do so.
As you may have seen the Annual
Town Meeting and Citizens Awards evening scheduled for this evening (26th)
has also been postponed and will be held at a future date to be confirmed.
The situation continues to change
on a daily basis. We urge you to continue to follow our social media posts on
facebook, twitter or visit our website on www.princesrisboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk
or you can contact us by telephone on 01844 275912
Please be sure to follow the
Government advice and Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives. In addition,
continue to wash your hands for a minimum of twenty seconds and practice
appropriate social distancing of at least two metres.
Keep well and together we will get
through this time, renewed and restored.
